Character voice types

Browse by role type — not brand names. Pick a cartoon kid, anime youth, game NPC, villain, elder, or robot tone for the line you are writing.

  • Cartoon kids

Bright, playful delivery for kids’ shorts, stickers, and light comedy lines.

  • Anime youth

Expressive teen or young-adult energy for fan scenes, skits, and dialogue reels.

  • Game NPC

Clear quest-giver and companion lines for indie games, demos, and prototype VO.

  • Villain deep

Lower, dramatic color for antagonists, trailers, and tension beats.

  • Elder

Older, steady timbre for mentors, lore reads, and storybook narrators-as-characters.

  • Robot

Stiffer, synthetic feel for AI sidekicks, sci-fi bots, and comic machine lines.

What is a character voice?

A character voice is speech that sounds like a role — a cartoon kid, anime teen, game NPC, villain, or robot — not a neutral documentary narrator.

You type a short line, choose a preset that matches the role, and download MP3. No booth, no acting session, and no need to imitate a famous IP. Creators use character voices for dialogue that needs emotion and contrast between speakers, while long narration stays on a separate page.

Generate a character voice in three steps

Same simple flow as AI narration — but tuned for short dialogue and expressive Kling character presets.

  1. Step 1

    Paste the line

Type or paste a short line of dialogue — up to 500 characters per generation. Keep one speaker per take for the cleanest result.

  2. Step 2

    Pick a character voice

Open Characters in the tool above, tap a preset to preview, then set speed before you spend credits.

  3. Step 3

    Generate and download

Hit generate, wait a few seconds, download MP3. Drop it into your editor, game engine, or podcast timeline.

Need a voice that sounds like a real person you recorded? Use Clone voice instead of a character preset. Clone voice.

Multi-character dialogue workflow

Kling TTS accepts up to 500 characters per generation — enough for a beat, not a full scene.

For two or more speakers, generate one line (or short block) per character, download each MP3, then concatenate in your editor or DAW. Keep filenames like hero-01.mp3 / villain-01.mp3 so you can reorder takes.

Stay under the character limit by cutting on speaker turns. If a monologue runs long, split mid-sentence only when you must — natural pauses make cleaner joins.

Where character voices fit

Short, expressive lines — not hour-long courses. Output is always an audio file you import yourself.

UseHow it fits
Animation shortsLip-sync friendly one-liners and banter for YouTube Shorts, Reels, and indie cartoons.
Game NPCsQuest hooks, shopkeepers, and companion lines while you prototype — replace later if you hire talent.
Short drama / talk tracksMulti-speaker skits and vertical drama where each role needs a distinct color.
Tabletop / RPGNPC reads for session prep, actual-play intros, and campaign trailers.
Podcast fictionCharacter beats between hosts — generate per role, then edit timing in your podcast DAW.

Character voice vs AI narration

Two pages, two jobs — so search intent and product copy stay distinct.

Character Voice FAQ

Do I need to record my voice?
No. This page is text-to-speech with character presets — type a line, preview, and download MP3. Recording is only needed if you switch to Clone voice.
Is preview free? How many credits per export?
Preview is free in the browser. Each full Kling export uses 3 credits (flat), same as Kling TTS on AI Narration.
Is this a character voice changer or a generator?
This page is a character voice generator: you type text and get a character-style voice back. A voice changer would alter a recording you already made. To change the sound of your own recording into a new timbre, use Clone voice with a sample you are allowed to use.
Do you have voices from famous cartoons or games?
No — and that is intentional. We do not offer celebrity or trademarked character impressions (portrait and voice rights). For a unique role, clone a sample you own or have permission to use, then treat that clone as your custom character voice.
How long can one character line be?
Up to 500 characters per generation. Split longer dialogue by speaker or beat, then concatenate the MP3 files.
Can I generate a full multi-character scene in one go?
Not as a single mixed track. Generate each speaker separately (within the character limit), download each take, and edit them together for timing and overlap.
Should I use Character Voice or AI Narration?
Use Character Voice for short, expressive roles (cartoon, anime, game, villain). Use AI Narration for long-form explainers, courses, and documentary-style VO. The two pages link to each other so you can switch when intent changes.
Can I use the MP3 commercially?
Exports you generate on vocalove are yours to use in your projects, subject to our Terms and Acceptable Use — do not impersonate real people or protected IPs. When in doubt, use an original clone sample you control.
